Hey there!
Welcome to Another Bite! I’m Chandra Ram, a cookbook author, food writer, editor, recipe developer, and perennially hungry person. If you have a fridge full of leftovers you’d like to repurpose into something tasty, and a hunger for all the other bits and pieces of food culture in our world, pull up a chair; you’re in the right spot.
Thank you for stopping by (and please subscribe — for free! — while you’re here).
What’s this newsletter about?
Food, recipes, food culture, all of it. You’ll get recipes from my kitchen, something savory or sweet that is fun and utterly delicious. Often, it will be a recipe from my Leftovers Remix project, one that teaches you how to reimagine leftovers into something entirely new. As well, this newsletter is where I’ll share stories about food and how it impacts our lives, notes from my food-driven travels, suggestions for something I loved to read or watch, and my (incredibly picky) recommendations for various food and kitchen things that are worth the hype. And maybe something else; we’ll see how this goes!
About me
I’ve spent my adult life thinking and writing about food while looking at how the changing world impacts what and how we eat. I grew up in Kentucky with my Irish mother and Indian father in a large family that melded those cultures with the South in our gardens and at our table. I’ve cooked, waited tables, and bartended in restaurants and worked as a caterer, so am deeply familiar with the chaos of both Friday happy hour and Sunday mornings at the omelet station, (and know exactly what happens at an open-bar wedding when you don’t get the food out fast enough).
I spent 20 years working in media, including serving as the food director of Food & Wine and the editor in chief of Plate. Along the way, I’ve written and created recipes for Epicurious, Food52, Gravy, and other publications, wrote The Complete Indian Instant Pot Cookbook, co-authored Korean BBQ and The Eiffel Tower Restaurant Cookbook, and contributed to several other food books.
